Gay Farnan Memorial Tour – Sun 20th October, 10am, Dunsany GAA Club

*** ALL ENQUIRIES TO THE TOURING COMMITTEE ***

The 2nd Gay Farnan Memorial tour will be held on
next Sunday 20th October starting at Dunsany GAA
Club at 10.00am. As some of Gay’s family and former

Gay Farnan was a board member of the IVCA for many,
many years and served both as Touring Director and

This event is extremely important to the Farnan family
and it is hoped that there will be a good turnout from
the IVCA membership. The winner of the Gay Farnan trophy will be
decided by lottery among members only.

There is no entry fee for members, but there will be a charge of €10
for non-members (who are most welcome) to cover
Insurance costs. Refreshments will be served in the
clubhouse afterwards.

Dolan Does It!

Paul Dolan proved to be the fastest rider in the IVCA Hill Climb held on Cromwellstown Hill outside Rathcoole on 6th October.

Having missed out by just one second in 2016, Paul made no mistake this year and posted a time of 5 minutes 38 seconds, a comfortable 8 seconds ahead of runner-up Eamon Byrd who posted a time of 5:46. Rounding off the podium was Joe Sheehy with a time of 5:53.

On Handicap Time, Pat Byrne was the clear winner, beating his handicap by 40 seconds. Second place on handicap went to Joe Sheehy (20 seconds improvement), while Thomas Kabs rounded off the top three on handicap, beating his previous time by 17 seconds.

Full results of the event are posted below.

Many thanks to all who took part in the event and those who came out to marshal; to time keepers Harry Sherratt and Dave Cormack, pusher-off-er Mick Mullen, and photographer Brendan Cullen.

Dick O’Brien Touring League Update

Brendan Johnston and Tony Pearson are still joint leaders of The Dick O’Brien Touring League after 8 rounds – both having completed the 100 in 8 on 11th August.  It definitely looks like the trophy will be heading to Towers CC for the second year running, the winner mostly likely being decided by The Joe Hoare.

Round 9, The West Wicklow,  takes place on 8th September starting at The Cycle Superstore at 9.00am.

The Gay Farnan Memorial Tour, which was due on 8th Sept has been postponed until 6th October as it clashed  with Ras na mBan, IVCA racing, etc. The distance is 70/40km starting at Dunsany GAA at 10.00am.  Gay Farnan contributed hugely to the IVCA for many years both as a board member and Chairman of the W200.  The Farnan family are very involved in this event and Gays Memorial Trophy will be decided by lottery among IVCA members.  A good turnout from the membership is expected.

IVCA Sat TT_10 .

The final event of the Saturday TT League took place yesterday, 17/08/19, in mixed weather with a stiff wind blowing.
Joe, Ken and Ciara took the prime places on Age standard with Ciara knocking 37 seconds off the current Ladies Age Standard record in spite of not being happy with her form 🙂
Joe, Ken and Ian O’Hara took the actual time positions whilst Barry, Ken and Ciara filled the handicap slots.
Congratulations all and thanks as ever to the timekeepers and marshals who make it all possible.
Numbers were done somewhat but holiday time and weather probably not helping there. Next Saturday, 24th we are back at Mother Hubbards for ” BAR options Day ” where last opportunities to improve on 25 and 50 times are available. I just wish I could avail of the opportunity but it’s not to be. Fingers crossed for 2020 🙂
Tuesday 27th wraps up the TT Leagues leaving just the end of season markers of the 2-up and hill climb to round off 2019 competition.
