IVCA Track Omnium Results – Saturday 4th Sept

Hello All,
Please see below the final results of the IVCA Omnium.
We ran this as a 2 Group competition based on age/ability  with 8 riders contesting Group 1 and 3 contesting group 2.
Group 1 Events  :Flying 200 TT, 12 Lap Scratch, 4 Lap Standing Start Pursuit, Mile Race, 500m TT with all points carrying forward to the final points race where points were added sprint by sprint using the Olympic Omnium scoring system. At the start of the points race we saw Ian Cassidy lead on 190 points, to Mark Kidd on 188 and Francis Halsall on 186. Tom Gentleman went clear to win the first sprint with
Francis taking second to Mark . This now put all 3 to within a point but now Ian made his move to break clear quickly followed by Mark Kidd. This pairing mopped up the main points over the next 3 sprints with Francis being the big loser here in missing the move. Mark took the 5s on offer to Ians 3s and when Ian made his move on the final sprint with double points, it just fell short to Marks total. In this
race you need to be a mathematician as well as a sprinter!
We ran Group 2 over 5 events with a slightly shorter pursuit and no points race. This event was very useful for those riding full nationals next week as it gave them much need practice out of the starting gate and we provided all riders with their lap times which should help them with their pacing strategy for the Irish Masters Track Nationals next week.

History in the Making! – Women’s Super Sunday RR Results

Orla Hendron writes:

Super Sunday 5th September saw I may stand corrected, but I believe the First over 35 Womens Masters race in the history of bike racing in Ireland.
Nearly 20 enthusiastic Women from far and wide didn’t let the early start deter them from lining up to tackle a very sporting and challenging course of Dorey’s Forge, one of the IVCA’s best circuits.

The racing was full on from the start with Aideen Keenan being the main protagonist and while Dorey’s Forge as expected forced some splits in the peloton some strong riding from behind and some tactical racing up front saw the race come down to a bunch sprint with Katy Harrison showing she had learnt a thing or two from her summer of Corkagh Park racing taking a super win from a very Impressive Aideen Keenan who was also awarded the combativity prize. Third across the line was our Champion of Corkagh Park organisation Beata Golezak and a fine 4th place was taken by Julie Rea coming all the way from Phoenix CC.
Local Meath Woman Helen White claimed 5th place and another long distance traveller Angela Hoare took an impressive 6th place.

To showcase and promote Women’s Masters racing the IVCA also made a special presentation to the 6 Over 50 Women and 1st in that category was Julie Rea with Helen White taking 2nd place and Sharon Kennedy all the way from Greenmount claiming 3rd.
Many Thanks to the IVCA racing committee and the IVCA members supporting and hosting this event. As always, the organisation and Marshalling was super safe and supportive. Many Thanks to the Hatchet Pub who provided a great spread for the most important post race chats.

Huge thanks to all the Women who supported this inaugural event especially those that travelled from beyond the Pale.

As Always, the racing was captured by Brendan Culleton.

Many Thanks Brendan for capturing our efforts.

Results
1st Katy Harrison Ossory CC

Masters 50 Cat

Orla.
