IVCA Sat TT_02. 10 mile TT. Hatchet Inn.

Aaaaah, fifteen riders, timekeepers and marshals enjoyed excellent conditions on Saturday morning. All very civilised with the new car parking arrangements. Looked after very well by Barman Dave and other staff and even got to enjoy coffee out on the new patio area after the TT.
I’ve managed to cripple the League table tabs on the results workbook so don’t bother looking there. Hope to resurrect soon.

IVCA Sat TT_02. 10 mile TT. Hatchet Inn.

Hi All.
There have been changes at the Hatchet. The garage has reopened and is not available for our use.
However, this is not a problem as the Hatchet Inn are making their car park available to us and will be opening up at 0830.On a different subject. I apologise that I’ve been struggling to get results up on this first week. There’s a lot of prep work on the system required which I normally have done before the first event but I did not manage it this year. Should be back to normal at the weekend.
The weather men are forecast better weather from the weekend so hopefully we’ll get better conditions and bigger entries.
See y’all Saturday morning,
Phil.

Hi All.
I’m short of details for some of the new members so hope to have the results and report up in full tomorrow.
We had a good turnout of 23 riders and what appeared to be reasonable conditions time wise.
Cheers,
Phil.

Death of Kevin Simms

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of our friend and colleague, Kevin Simms, who passed away yesterday, 20th April, in his 87th year.  Kevin was an IVCA stalwart and continued to turn out to our races well into his 80s.  That, however, was only one part of a distinguished cycling career which stretched back to his participation in the first Ras Tailteann in 1953.
In 2012, Kevin rode the time trial in the World Master’s Championship in Austria and finished in 12th place in his age group, for which he proudly collected a trophy.
Kevin was also a fabulous artist and occasionally brought his latest piece of work to share with his friends in the IVCA.
Above all, Kevin was a quiet, modest man, but with a great sense of humour.  Our thoughts are with his family at this time.  He will be sorely missed.
Kevin’s funeral arrangements can be found by clicking here.

50 in 4 next Sunday, 11th March

A reminder that the 50 in 4 (50 miles in 4 hours) tour takes place next Sunday, 11th March, setting out  from The Grasshopper Inn, Clonee at 9:00 am.  The route will head towards Summerhill and on to Knightsbrook, returning to Summerhill for a tea stop; then it’s on to Maynooth and finishing back in Clonee.  (Click on the image below for a larger view of the route).

Following a series of weekends of bad weather, this spin provides a great opportunity to get the legs and lungs working again.  The 50 in 4 is also the first leg of the IVCA “triple” which see the award of a silver Touring Medal to any rider completing the 50 in 4, Wicklow 200 and 100 in 8 in the same year.  We hope to see as many members as possible on the start line in Clonee.
