The TT Committee.

IVCA Membership 2020

Current / Past Members – Closing Date 1st Feb 2020

IVCA membership for 2020 is now open and this year renewal will be via completed forms to be emailed back to the Treasurer (treasurer@theivca.com), along with an accompanying EFT to the IVCA bank account. The IVCA is open to males who are / will be 40 years of age or older, and females who are/will be 35 years of age, or older, in the calendar year to which membership applies.

If you prefer, you can still post cheques via normal post – however payment via EFT is the preferred option, as it is a much quicker option and speeds up administration.

The closing date for membership applications is 1 February 2020 and will be strictly applied. There are a number of licence options open to you, as set out below.

With regard to licence fees, and as mentioned in a recent email to all members, due to unprecedented and significant rise in Insurance costs, the licence fee has had to be increased in line with the schedule of fees as outlined below. All licences are affected, and the IVCA has arrived at the fee structure after careful consideration of costs going forward. In particular, it was sought to keep the R2 licence below EUR300, and the only way that this could be realistically achieved means that for 2020 and most likely going forward, the award of all prize monies will be discontinued.

First-Time Members – Closing Date for pre-Application: 15 December 2019

If you are applying as a first-time member, please see the instructions at the bottom of this page with regard to pre-Application; there is no need to fill out any other form(s) at this point, and you will be contacted if you have been approved and need to fill out further forms.

Dolan Does It!

Paul Dolan proved to be the fastest rider in the IVCA Hill Climb held on Cromwellstown Hill outside Rathcoole on 6th October.

Having missed out by just one second in 2016, Paul made no mistake this year and posted a time of 5 minutes 38 seconds, a comfortable 8 seconds ahead of runner-up Eamon Byrd who posted a time of 5:46. Rounding off the podium was Joe Sheehy with a time of 5:53.

On Handicap Time, Pat Byrne was the clear winner, beating his handicap by 40 seconds. Second place on handicap went to Joe Sheehy (20 seconds improvement), while Thomas Kabs rounded off the top three on handicap, beating his previous time by 17 seconds.

Full results of the event are posted below.

Many thanks to all who took part in the event and those who came out to marshal; to time keepers Harry Sherratt and Dave Cormack, pusher-off-er Mick Mullen, and photographer Brendan Cullen.

IVCA Sat TT_10 .

The final event of the Saturday TT League took place yesterday, 17/08/19, in mixed weather with a stiff wind blowing.
Joe, Ken and Ciara took the prime places on Age standard with Ciara knocking 37 seconds off the current Ladies Age Standard record in spite of not being happy with her form 🙂
Joe, Ken and Ian O’Hara took the actual time positions whilst Barry, Ken and Ciara filled the handicap slots.
Congratulations all and thanks as ever to the timekeepers and marshals who make it all possible.
Numbers were done somewhat but holiday time and weather probably not helping there. Next Saturday, 24th we are back at Mother Hubbards for ” BAR options Day ” where last opportunities to improve on 25 and 50 times are available. I just wish I could avail of the opportunity but it’s not to be. Fingers crossed for 2020 🙂
Tuesday 27th wraps up the TT Leagues leaving just the end of season markers of the 2-up and hill climb to round off 2019 competition.

IVCA 50 mile TT Championship. 03/08/2019.

Just eleven entrants on Saturday. A mixed weather day but not disasterously so.

Thanks to Harry and Dave for the timekeeping and to the full compliment of marshals. It was good to see that the road works at the Kinnegad bypass end of the course were to no detriment, in fact we though it was improved by the Garage and Tesco sites.

Hugh shaved an impressive 4 min 1 sec off the age 72 record held by Sean Lally, with his Gold Medal winning time of 2:09:11 for a plus 26:49 age standard. He also collected 3rd on handicap on the way.

Ian Cassidy’s 1:53:53 took the Silver Medal although, by his standards, somewhat off the pace.

Ian O’Hara’s personal best 1:58:07 took Bronze medal and a well deserved first place on handicap.

Brendan Byrne shaved a couple of minutes off his handicap to take the third place on handicap.

Congratulations also to Paddy Davis with a new Age
( 72 ) Standard Record of 2:33:05 taking 1:48 off Patsy Fitzsimons effort in 2010.

Another chance to do it all again, or to ride if you missed Saturday, arises in two weeks time, 24/08, on BAR Options Day.

The final event of the TTL is on Tuesday 27/8, the circuit TT on the Culmullin cct.
Cheers,
Phil.
