New circuit The Hatchet-Batterstown-Dorey’s Forge-Mullagh-The Hatchet 31.5kms Sunday 1st August

Hi All.

We have been preparing and have now finalised  a new circuit for this Sunday, August 1st.
Sign-on will be as usual at the Hatchet pub from 8.00 am.
The circuit is 31.5kms and incorporates 2 Tuesday circuits that we already use with the Culmullin road stretch removed.
Map and route detail below so have a close look at both to familiarise yourselves.
We will have a briefing for each race before the start on Sunday.
Marshals, please arrive on time for  briefing and Junction/Corner/Lead Car  allocation
It is important not to block the road outside the Hatchet before the start, we will call each group out onto the road in race order.
Your co-operation is very important to help for a smooth start.

Race Results 25th July – Beehive Circuit

Hi everyone.
Glorious weather again for today’s race at the Beehive.Thank you from the Race committee for your support and your co-operation,
Thank you to the Paramedics, Motorbike marshals, and to the staff at the Beehive pub for your great support.
Thanks to our marshals for keeping everyone safe.
Thanks to Brendan Culleton for the photos and the Photo Finish.
The winners from each race who received a Winner’s  Medal are as Follows.
RACE 1 Cahir O’Higgins
RACE 2 Ciaran McSweeney.
RACE 3 Anthony McMahon.
RACE 4. Result – Null and Void.
RACE 5 Terry Ryan.
Extremely close finish in Race 2 and Race 3 and the Photo Finish (thanks to Brendan) was required to confirm the result in both races.
The Green race result is Null and Void as the Scratch group caught the Greens on the last lap and some of the Greens jumped onto the back of the Scratch group and were Towed to the finish. If this situation arises again, the slower (caught)group must sit up and wait for the faster Race to pass completely before resuming their own race.
Lesson learned hopefully!
Next Sunday 1st August  Sign-On from 8.00 am will be at The  Hatchet pub for the Green Sheds circuit again.
Location link available on the Website.
Regards
The Race Committee.

We will be neutralised to the start at the Green Sheds Roundabout 6k away.
The motorbike marshals will be located at the juntions to guide everyone to the start. These roads are narrow so no bunching until we reach the start line.

IVCA Members Update on Racing from July

Hi all.

I hope everyone is keeping well and adjusting to getting back to some sort of normality now that Covid restrictions are lifting?
The Executive and Race Committees have continued to  meet on line  during  the lock down.
We are actively looking at Starting the racing season at the beginning of July.
We have agreed to just go with Weekend events, Road races TT’s and a Track event.
There will be no league, just stand alone events each week.
We have a lot of preparation work to do so we will update everyone as we make progress securing venues, Motorbike marshals, paramedic cover etc.
We are restricting which venues we use so we will probably stick with 3 or 4 venues repeating.
We are currently getting information from our current membership so we gauge participant and marshalling numbers etc, we will then publish the amended calendar in the next week or so.
As you are aware everyone needs to join Cycling Ireland and take out the Appropriate licence. LEISURE LICENCE  for the Touring members, LIMITED/CLUB COMPETITION Licence for riding the IVCA Races.
FULL COMPETITION Licence if you chose to Race IVCA and Cycling Ireland Open Races.
All IVCA fees  carried over from 2020 but Insurance fees which CI membership provides have to be paid to enable you to Race.
The IVCA Insurance policy lapsed in 2020 because the cost was too prohibitave and we have affiliated with CI for the benefit of availing of their affordable insurance cover.
We will start the races based on the groups that we had prepared for the start of the 2020 season and we will adjust the make up of each group as we see how everyone progresses through the first events.
We will publish the groups on the website in plenty of time before the races commence .
We will keep you updated as we are progressing.
Best regards
RACE COMMITTEE.

IVCA Membership 2020

Current / Past Members – Closing Date 1st Feb 2020

IVCA membership for 2020 is now open and this year renewal will be via completed forms to be emailed back to the Treasurer (treasurer@theivca.com), along with an accompanying EFT to the IVCA bank account. The IVCA is open to males who are / will be 40 years of age or older, and females who are/will be 35 years of age, or older, in the calendar year to which membership applies.

If you prefer, you can still post cheques via normal post – however payment via EFT is the preferred option, as it is a much quicker option and speeds up administration.

The closing date for membership applications is 1 February 2020 and will be strictly applied. There are a number of licence options open to you, as set out below.

With regard to licence fees, and as mentioned in a recent email to all members, due to unprecedented and significant rise in Insurance costs, the licence fee has had to be increased in line with the schedule of fees as outlined below. All licences are affected, and the IVCA has arrived at the fee structure after careful consideration of costs going forward. In particular, it was sought to keep the R2 licence below EUR300, and the only way that this could be realistically achieved means that for 2020 and most likely going forward, the award of all prize monies will be discontinued.

First-Time Members – Closing Date for pre-Application: 15 December 2019

If you are applying as a first-time member, please see the instructions at the bottom of this page with regard to pre-Application; there is no need to fill out any other form(s) at this point, and you will be contacted if you have been approved and need to fill out further forms.
