Saturday mornings 10 mile time trial (Sat_TT_01) was a run off with a helpful return tail wind.  Sign on was based at the Hamlet Court Hotel about two kilometres north of the start/finish line. A field of 12 turned out, supported by our two timekeepers, Harry and Michael, with support provided by 2 marshalls and  medic in attendance who followed the last rider on the course.
Ian Cassidy was the fastest on Age standard (+4:12)  followed by Joe Sheehy (+2:56) and Pat Byrne (+2:41) in second and third.
Ian Cassidy (100.57%) was fastest versus Handicap followed by Joe Sheehy (101.77%) and Pat Byrne (103.38%).
Fastest was Ian Cassidy (00:21:14).
Those that were able to stay a while enjoyed a pleasant post race chat, coffee and scones in the hotel. It’s such a bonus having a HQ like this.
Full results will be available shortly on the IVCA website TT_Results.

Sorry for delayed posting. A few setup for 2017 tweaks needed.

Hi all,
first TT of 2017 tomorrow ( Tuesday 25th ), is a ten mile test on the Batterstown course. HQ and sign on at the Black Bull as usual. Please note we have no HQ or toilet facilities so absolute discretion is essential. First man off 1915. I have licences for TT only members and will be at Black Bull around 1800.

Time Trial season kicks off this week

The first TT event of the 2017 season (TTL_01) takes place this Tuesday 25th April on the Black Bull 10 mile TT course.  We will be using the usual HQ at Black Bull (1st left on R154 from M3 exit to Trim). The nearest WC facilities are in Batterstown at the garage or the pub.

Sign on will close at 19:00 and the first rider will be off at 19:15.  Marshal briefing is at 19.00 sharp.

For further course details and information see document below.

Good luck to everyone and above all, obey the marshals, look after yourself and other riders, and let’s all stay safe and do it all again next week.  We also ask riders to show the utmost respect to the venue we will be using, so please Leave No Trace – take home any litter with you and use dressing room and toilets where provided.

Cassidy best in Hill Climb

Ian Cassidy continued his excellent form in IVCA time trials this year with a thrilling victory in the Hill Climb on 2 October.  Paul Dolan set the standard with a blistering ride of 7 mins 28 secs for the 2.9 Km course.  This looked like it was good enough to seal the win, but Cassidy pulled out all the stops to record a time of 7 mins 27 secs – beating Dolan into second place by just 1 second!  Third fastest was Barry Swan, with a time of 7 mins 58 secs.

First prize on handicap went to Ciara Kinch who was one of the few riders to beat handicap on the day.  Second in this category was Jimmy Murphy, with John Dillon taking the prize for third on handicap.

Sanyo Cup 2-up TT. 2016.

A lovely clear and calm morning when I left home at 0715 turned to a more normal wet and windy TT day by start time 🙁
Mick and Ciara got round the course in 49:23 just 58 seconds off estimated time to take the trophy with Mark and Ned in second 1:08 off estimated time and Eunan and Tom in third 1:14 off.
Nine pairings only today we suspect the All Ireland final might have had something to do with it. Fastest time 42:47 for Tony and Jonathan. Phil awards himself the booby prize for predicting last years finish time instead of actual. 12 seconds off estimate would have lifted the trophy. Sorry Billy, mea culpa. ;-(((  Even rebuilt my Marcello up for the team photo. Most of it is for sale if anyone interested.

Phil.

SAT -10, Kilcock, 20/08/2016.

What a day to close the leagues season. Pouring rain and blowing a gale !!
Just six hardy souls, or idiots, answered Harry’s call to the start line. Ian ( Cassidy )did a storming 21:22 to win fastest and age standard. Needless to say no one got near there handicap, Pat being closest at 101.71%.
I’ll make a separate report of the final league tables when I’ve recovered, which according to my Garmin will be on Tuesday !!
Thanks to Harry for his final timekeeping stint of the season, and bon voyage for his trip down under. He’ll be heading for spring as opposed to what seems like nearly winter already here.
Many thanks also to the three volunteer marshals who got just as wet as the riders and probably a lot colder. One of them get’s his picture posted 🙂

Training Peaks Promo.

TTL-10. Cullmulin Circuit Time Trial.

Cool, dull and windy, the story of the 2016 season.
A good turnout of nineteen riders but only 50% of the scheduled marshals turned up. NOT ACCEPTABLE !!
Neil smashed the field with a new course and age record time of 28:25, great ride.
Neil was riding off scratch so not in the running but no one came close to beating handicap giving an indication of the tough conditions. Best on handicap was Jimmy Murphy.
So that’s it for the TTL and just one last event in the Sat TT Series ( 20th August, Kilcock ). After that we have a two week break before the TT Options day to finalise BAR /FAR possibilities and then the 2up TT and the Hill climb to close hostilities for the year. A float day for Kilcock and the 25/50 options would not go amiss if anyone out there has any influence with the minister for weather.
Phil.

PS . The order has gone in for the new skinsuits. I can increase quantities if anyone wants to make a last minute decision.  I doubt that there will be another order chance for 2016 kit.
