A fine, warm evening with not too much of a breeze welcomed twenty riders, timekeeper Harry and a full compliment of marshals to Mother Hubbards.

Six riders beat handicap but the star performance of the evening was from Hugh with a 1:0:57 new age 70 record and taking the Age standard win.

Best on handicap was Rodney who added to an earlier 10 mile handicap improvement and having a great season so far. Special mention of a great road bike ride by Barry of 1:00:34 in a too seldom turn up at the TT’s. I’ve been trying to get Barry to ride more TT’s since he was a novice in Sutton Road Club with me over 30 years ago 🙂 Delighted to hear the a TT bike purchase is on the cards.
Also great to welcome Eoin back, kudos is due for a brave and positive approach to managing his medical condition.
Fastest on the course was Joe Sheehy with a fine 56:33 also a PB and third place on handicap.
Next event is next Saturday morning , June 3rd, at Hatchet Inn.

A very disappointing turn in the weather brought about an equally disappointing turnout of only eighteen riders for the IVCA 10 mile TT Championship on Saturday morning.
Thanks to Michael, Ger and Kevin for the timekeeping and to Conor, Sean, Brian and Declan for the marshalling.
Persistent rain and a pesky breeze made for a tough ride, also difficult due to rain washed visors making visibility very much hampered. In spite of that four riders managed to squeeze a few seconds off their handicap the best of whom was Paddy Davis so kudos due to them.
Ian, Hugh and Ed took the gold, silver and bronze medals on the Age Standard result. A close look at the “ plusses “ shows up the quality of Ian and Hugh, two elite riders at opposite ends of the ag spectrum. Ian 56 seconds ahead of Hugh and Hugh 1’ 17” ahead of Ed, but Ed and the next eight riders with an age span of 31 years are all within a minute of each other. I do believe that this indicates that the slope of the age standard curve is as good as we can get.
We are back to Moy Valley on Tuesday for a 25 TT. Accuweather gives a better forecast than today ?  We can but hope.

I’ve never thought of this course as one for the setting of records, but what do I know!
Ian, Hugh and Patsy all laid down new age records while Ian ( again 🙂 ), Noel and Oliver revised their handicaps downwards. Congratulations to all.
Next TT this coming Saturday is the Ten Mile TT Championship at Moy Valley. First man off at 0915 when we hope to see a number of our road racing comrades making an effort against the clock when, for the first time in a while, participation points are available for the RR leagues. This applies to all three TT Championships.

A fine but cool and SW breezy morning welcomed 16 riders, time keepers and marshals to Mother Hubbards HQ on Saturday morning. It looked like a tough return trip from Enfield was in store and so it was to be.
Continuing his runaway form Ian was again Fastest and Age Standard winner with another 20 minute ride, this time 58 seconds short of his 19:59 goal.
Noel Guinan took the top spot on handicap with a new PB, a goal also achieved by Pat , Rodney and Ian.
Ten of us enjoyed the hospitality of the café afterwards and as we left for home the weather broke and the rain arrived, good timing.
Thanks to Harry and Paul on the watches and Deanne and Thomas marshaling the roundabout turn.

Fifteen riders, two timekeepers and no marshals showed up on a bright but cold and windy morning at The Hatchet Inn. The new management of the Inn made us very welcome and look forward to us continuing to use the venue.
The age standard category was again won by Ian with another elite class performance followed by Joe and Ken in second and third. Joe won on handicap and was the only rider to beat handicap on the day, kudos due for that.
The marshaling issue will be addressed elsewhere as it’s a point we can’t compromise on.
Next TT is Tuesday evening, 9th at Kilcock. Forecast is good as of now and we hope for another good evening turnout as last week and good times on our first visit there this season.

Unforeseen circumstances arose last week resulted in no report appearing so I’ll catch up here.

We had a great turnout of 33 riders for the Tom Dempsey 10 TT. and also a full compliment of marshals so all went well except for an unpleasant altercation with an Irate and non to reasonable motor cyclist. Hugh was a clear winner on age standard while second, Neil, down to eighth place were all within a minute of each other whilst another minute cover the next eight.

It was a great night in spite of the cold and wind with ten riders beating handicap so a lot of satisfied folks around.

Comiserations to Ian who punctured whilst on a super fast ride ( again 🙂 ).

Thanks to Harry and Paul on timekeeping duties. On this note we all record our best wishes to Dave Cormack for continued recovery from his horrendous accident which is looking like being for some time yet.

Results Sat_TT_01 Johnstown Bridge 10mTT
Saturday mornings 10 mile time trial (Sat_TT_01) was a run off with a helpful return tail wind.  Sign on was based at the Hamlet Court Hotel about two kilometres north of the start/finish line. A field of 12 turned out, supported by our two timekeepers, Harry and Michael, with support provided by 2 marshalls and  medic in attendance who followed the last rider on the course.
Ian Cassidy was the fastest on Age standard (+4:12)  followed by Joe Sheehy (+2:56) and Pat Byrne (+2:41) in second and third.
Ian Cassidy (100.57%) was fastest versus Handicap followed by Joe Sheehy (101.77%) and Pat Byrne (103.38%).
Fastest was Ian Cassidy (00:21:14).
Those that were able to stay a while enjoyed a pleasant post race chat, coffee and scones in the hotel. It’s such a bonus having a HQ like this.

Results TTL_01 Blackbull 10mTT
Tuesday nights 10 mile time trial (TTL_01) was a test of endurance to keep the bikes in a straight line while battling a difficult crosswind on the outward leg of the Blackbull course with time in the main being below normal expectations. There was a field of 22, with some new faces attending for the first time, supported by our two timekeepers, Harry and Ger, with support provided by 7 marshalls, 1 starter and our resident medic in attendance.
Ian Cassidy was the fastest on Age standard (+3:28)  followed by Joe Sheehy (+2:20)and Hugh Davis (+1:59) in second and third.
Peter Raftery (98.32%) was fastest versus Handicap followed by Ivan Eustace (100.91%) and Rodney Joyce (101.26%).
Fastest on the night was Ian Cassidy (21:58).
