17’05’16. Oliver Bright 10 TT. Kilcock.

Message from TTcomm. Please remember, rear lights are compulsory in TT’s.
Be safe, Be seen. Don’t go for an excuse for a light either, what price saving a euro or two versus saving your life? This is just highlighting our IVCA TT rules of time trialling.
But why not use a rear light every time you throw your leg over the bike? It won’t cost you much money. It won’t cost you any speed. but it might just mean that the driver behind sees you rather than creams you.

Think about it.

Please.

Phil.

Sat TT_03. Hatchet Inn Pub course. 14/05/2016.

Good morning Testers. We are back to the Hatchet Inn Pub course tomorrow.
Please take note of exec’s circulation re. discretion at the venue as we do not have the facilities of the pub this season. It’s in new hands and we don’t yet have contact with the new owners. Forecast looks promising 🙂

Hattons Saturday Series TT Results 07/05/2016

May is it ? Summers here is it ? Well only 8 hardmen or madmen turned out for yesterdays 10 Mille TT at Hattons between Summerhill and Kilcock. Lets just say the challenge was n’t just to go fast on 2 wheels, but also to stay upright on 2 wheels.  The conditions on the return leg were brutal to say the least poor visibility and high winds,  and the downpours continued from 9.00 am and well after we had finished on the sporting course. Thanks to all the marshalls/medics and to Hattons where hot tea and coffee were most welcome trying to get warm after the test.

Winning time by Paul Dolan with a 23’30” pictured below from last week, Dave Carroll 15 seconds behind in 2nd, hope he recovers ok after a crash he had after the finish. Full Results below, and all TT results are now update to here

Mind the Gaps Leisure Tour

The Mind the Gaps Leisure Tour is scheduled for this coming Sunday, 8th May, commencing at 9 am.

The event will start from the Cycle Superstore in Tallaght. Car parking space will be available either in the carpark or on the public road opposite the shop. Please note that the Superstore has moved premises since the start of this year and is now located on Airton Road in Tallaght. A map of their location is at the following link:

https://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/pc/viewContent.asp?idpage=1

We have no Touring Secretary this year and no-one has volunteered to organise this event, so the route is not marked and there will be no organised back-up support.

However, the usual route for this event has been Tallaght – Blessington – Hollywood – Left at Hollywood towards Glendalough – Laragh (opportunity for tea stop) – Glenmacnass (take a left immediately on leaving Laragh on the Roundwood Road) – Sally Gap – Manor Kilbride – Tallaght.

A map of this route (using The Square as a reference point) is attached.

The route is a little over 100Km. Care is advised on the descents, particularly off the Sally Gap. This is a tough mountainous cycle, but an ideal preparation for anyone planning to ride the Wicklow 200/100 in June.

The Board would be delighted to hear from anyone who would be willing to take the lead in co-ordinating the remaining Leisure Tours (other than the WW 200 which is already in hand). This does not require you be a member of the Board.

IVCA 10TT Rathcoffey Saturday Series Results 30/04/2016.

Our first Saturday League TT was also our first trial of a new course at Rathcoffey / Kilcock. There were varying views on the course from a safety aspect so I would ask everyone there to drop a mail to TTcomm with their views for committee to consider. Certainly the facilities at the GAA were excellent and only missing catering facilities.

It was another very cold outing but there were great times done by a few with Paul again dominating affairs in all categories.

Next Tuesday, 3/5 we are again at Black Bull and the following Saturday we are at Hattons Restaurant, Summerhill / Kilcock course for another variation this time with a start / finish at Hattons, and one or one and a bit laps of the full stretch in a Hattons – Kilcock – Summerhill – Hattons direction. Start time 0930 again.
