IVCA Membership 2020

Current / Past Members – Closing Date 1st Feb 2020

IVCA membership for 2020 is now open and this year renewal will be via completed forms to be emailed back to the Treasurer (treasurer@theivca.com), along with an accompanying EFT to the IVCA bank account. The IVCA is open to males who are / will be 40 years of age or older, and females who are/will be 35 years of age, or older, in the calendar year to which membership applies.

If you prefer, you can still post cheques via normal post – however payment via EFT is the preferred option, as it is a much quicker option and speeds up administration.

The closing date for membership applications is 1 February 2020 and will be strictly applied. There are a number of licence options open to you, as set out below.

With regard to licence fees, and as mentioned in a recent email to all members, due to unprecedented and significant rise in Insurance costs, the licence fee has had to be increased in line with the schedule of fees as outlined below. All licences are affected, and the IVCA has arrived at the fee structure after careful consideration of costs going forward. In particular, it was sought to keep the R2 licence below EUR300, and the only way that this could be realistically achieved means that for 2020 and most likely going forward, the award of all prize monies will be discontinued.

First-Time Members – Closing Date for pre-Application: 15 December 2019

If you are applying as a first-time member, please see the instructions at the bottom of this page with regard to pre-Application; there is no need to fill out any other form(s) at this point, and you will be contacted if you have been approved and need to fill out further forms.

Gay Farnan Memorial Tour – Sun 20th October, 10am, Dunsany GAA Club

*** ALL ENQUIRIES TO THE TOURING COMMITTEE ***

The 2nd Gay Farnan Memorial tour will be held on
next Sunday 20th October starting at Dunsany GAA
Club at 10.00am. As some of Gay’s family and former
Work colleagues will take part, there will be 40km and
75km routes.

Gay Farnan was a board member of the IVCA for many,
many years and served both as Touring Director and
Chairman of the Wicklow 200 organising committee.

This event is extremely important to the Farnan family
and it is hoped that there will be a good turnout from
the IVCA membership. The winner of the Gay Farnan trophy will be
decided by lottery among members only.

There is no entry fee for members, but there will be a charge of €10
for non-members (who are most welcome) to cover
Insurance costs. Refreshments will be served in the
clubhouse afterwards.

Dick O’Brien Touring League Update

Brendan Johnston and Tony Pearson are still joint leaders of The Dick O’Brien Touring League after 8 rounds – both having completed the 100 in 8 on 11th August.  It definitely looks like the trophy will be heading to Towers CC for the second year running, the winner mostly likely being decided by The Joe Hoare.

Round 9, The West Wicklow,  takes place on 8th September starting at The Cycle Superstore at 9.00am.

The Gay Farnan Memorial Tour, which was due on 8th Sept has been postponed until 6th October as it clashed  with Ras na mBan, IVCA racing, etc. The distance is 70/40km starting at Dunsany GAA at 10.00am.  Gay Farnan contributed hugely to the IVCA for many years both as a board member and Chairman of the W200.  The Farnan family are very involved in this event and Gays Memorial Trophy will be decided by lottery among IVCA members.  A good turnout from the membership is expected.

Mind the Gaps Tour- Sun 12th May

The next leisure tour “Mind the Gaps” is scheduled for next Sunday 12th May starting at 9:00 am from Cycle Superstore on the Airton Road Tallaght. Click here for a map of the location.

The route will be the same as last year: Tallaght – Blessington – Hollywood – Left at Hollywood towards Glendalough – Laragh (opportunity for tea stop) – Glenmacnass (take a left immediately on leaving Laragh on the Roundwood Road) – Sally Gap – Manor Kilbride – Tallaght.

The route is a little over 100 Km. Care is advised on the descents, particularly off the Sally Gap. This is a tough mountainous cycle, but an ideal preparation for anyone planning to ride the Wicklow 200/100 in June.
